Frequently asked questions
How does AquaTrack calculate my daily goal?
Your goal is a personal estimate derived from EFSA 2010 and IOM 2004 reference values for total water intake, adjusted for your body mass, biological sex, activity level, climate, and sleep window — all of which you provide during onboarding (you can change them later in Settings → Profile). The exact formula and references are documented in Settings → About → BHI Sources.
Why does the outer ring show a smaller number than the volume I drank?
The outer ring shows hydration credit — the volume after applying the Beverage Hydration Index (BHI). Drinks with diuretic or low-electrolyte profiles (coffee, beer, juice) are credited at less than 100% of their volume; milk and oral rehydration solutions are credited at slightly more than 100%. The inner ring shows raw volume, unmodified. Both numbers are accurate; they answer different questions.
Does AquaTrack work with Apple Health?
Yes, two-way. AquaTrack reads Dietary Water, Dietary Caffeine, Body Mass, and Exercise Time from HealthKit, and writes the water and caffeine entries you log back so they appear in your Apple Health timeline. You control HealthKit access entirely from iOS Settings → Health → Data Access → AquaTrack.
Can I import my hydration history from before I installed AquaTrack?
Yes. Settings → Integrations → "Import history" opens a wizard where you pick a period (last week / month / 3 months / all-time), preview the count of entries Apple Health holds, and run the import. The operation is cancellable and idempotent — re-running it won't duplicate entries.
Why didn't I get reminders today?
Three things to check: (1) iOS Settings → Notifications → AquaTrack — Allow Notifications must be on. (2) In-app Settings → Reminders — reminders must be enabled, and your wake/sleep window must include the current time. (3) If your reminders are set to Smart pacing (Premium), the algorithm spaces pushes based on your progress and quiet hours; if you're already close to your goal, the next reminder may be later than the fixed interval would suggest. If none of the above applies and reminders still don't come, email me — include the time you expected one and the time you opened the app.
Why does my widget show yesterday's data?
AquaTrack rolls the day over at local midnight. Widgets refresh via system-scheduled timeline reloads (iOS limits the frequency) and also when you log a drink or open the app. If you see stale data, open the app once — that triggers a full refresh of widgets, Live Activity, and the goal calculation.
How do I cancel my subscription?
iOS handles this directly: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → AquaTrack → Cancel Subscription. Or open this link on your iPhone: apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Premium until then.
How do I restore a previous purchase?
If you reinstall AquaTrack or move to a new iPhone (signed in to the same Apple ID), open the in-app paywall (Settings → Premium, or any locked feature) and tap Restore Purchases. Lifetime and active subscriptions reactivate immediately.
How do I export or delete my data?
Export: Settings → History → Month → "Export CSV" (Premium). The CSV contains every logged drink with timestamp, beverage, volume, BHI credit. Delete a single log: tap the log on the Today screen → "Delete log" in the edit sheet. Delete all AquaTrack data: uninstall the app. The entire local database is removed with it. Delete HealthKit entries written by AquaTrack: iOS Settings → Health → Browse → Water (or Caffeine) → Show All Data → swipe to delete.
Is AquaTrack a medical app?
No. AquaTrack is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. The hydration goal and BHI values shown are population-level estimates from peer-reviewed research. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions that affect your health, particularly if you have kidney disease, heart failure, diabetes, are pregnant, or are otherwise required to manage your fluid intake under medical guidance.
Subscription and billing
AquaTrack Premium is offered through Apple's in-app purchase system:
- AquaTrack Premium — Monthly — auto-renewing every month.
- AquaTrack Premium — Yearly — auto-renewing every year.
- AquaTrack Premium — Lifetime — one-time purchase, no renewal.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel any time at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Current prices are shown in the App at the point of purchase, in your local currency.
The full terms — including the auto-renewal clause and the free-trial-forfeiture rule — are in the Terms of Use.
Refunds
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by the developer. To request a refund:
- Open reportaproblem.apple.com on any device.
- Sign in with the Apple ID used for the purchase.
- Find the AquaTrack transaction and follow the prompts.
I cannot process refunds directly. Apple's refund policy is described at support.apple.com/billing.
Health disclaimer
AquaTrack is intended for general wellness and educational use only. The information it shows — hydration goal, BHI credit, daily insight, achievements — is based on published research methods applied to data you provide. Individual physiology varies; medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and athletic regimes can shift your actual needs significantly. Do not use AquaTrack as a substitute for professional medical advice. If you have any medical condition that affects fluid intake, consult your doctor before relying on the App's recommendations.
